Guess what I found!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So day three of blue acaras babies... They're still wigglers, but trying vainly to become free-swimming. The mom and dad are doing a great job protecting the fry, though they fight with each other every so often. There appears to be about 50 fry (they're tiny so I could be wrong) and I'm hoping I can get at least 10 to survive for grow-outs. :)

Another update!! So the baby acaras are now free-swimming and are eating micro pellets along with baby brine shrimp. Now that they're no longer wigglers, there looks to be about a 100, not 50 like I originally thought. Hopefully I'll be able to get some to survive to become adults. :-)

Thanks for the advice. :) The only fish in the tank are the parents and babies though. I knew that acaras could pick on each other and possibly eat their young, so I decided I wanted them in a tank by themselves. Plus I didn't want the acaras beating up my severums.

best idea is to move the fry to a 10 gallon tank....

I did that with my Flowerhorn fry.. about 20percent lost due to the move.. but otherwise.. i still have about 100 or so fry left..

Thanks for the advice guys. :-)
