How come the pike color is so dark???I catch northerns all the time in Centerville MN and they are more of a green color rather than a dark color like that.

They can range from as dark as that one to an almost silvery green base color, it just depends on the local population.

this is what all of them look like at my cabin...

Northern pike Yep!! there vey fun to catch @ my end they are over 20lbs.
they look pretty much the same in Canada! We cought one 18lbs in the river behind my place! we call them slu shark's.

Sure looks like a northern but i was gonna say it has MORE white than usual to what we see in the wild in Ontario.

I live in north dakota and have caught many of these bad boys. They can be pretty vicious and they like to barrel roll like alligators whem hooked. I believe the biggest caught in ND was like 44lbs or something! :headbang2

I always make the yearly trip to N. Dakota.....Devils Lake baby...

looks like the pikes we have in sweden... a bit small and a bit more brownish in color though. cool fish... too bad they can't be kept in a tank.

Hiya folkilsk, some people keep them in well filtered, unheated tanks, pickerel are more common though due to the size.
