heres a little bit of info on it!

The Barkudia skink - a rare limbless lizard - was sighted in the eastern Indian state of Orissa after 87 years, a report said Monday.

The lizard, with the zoological name Barkudia Insularis, was found on Badakuda island in the Chilka brackish water lagoon, the United News Of India reported.

The skink has not been seen since it was discovered in 1917, and sightings after have been unconfirmed, wildlife officials said.

The species is endemic to Badakuda island, and is not found in any other parts of the world. The sighting was supported by video documentation, an official said.

The lizard looks like a giant earthworm. Scientists believed it extinct, Ajit Pattnaik, chief executive of Chilka Development Authority, said. He said four skinks were sighted this month. All four were healthy and two were adults.

Pattnaik said it seemed to be a nocturnal reptile that feeds on a variety of insects like termites and beetle larvae.

He said little was known about the breeding habits of the skink. - Sapa-DPA
