Eh, I wouldn't have been right without you calling them firetailed gudgeons. From there, I did a web search to find the sci name...and only did it to show ya the sci name. guppy can have my turn.
 
Thanks for the offer Childawg, but I'm using the local libraries computer and it won't let me post pics. You made the effort of tracking down the right name so please post one up.

Okay, nobody yet hmmm?
In that case here is a hard one, I will even throw in a couple clues.
It gets to just under 8" and is African and the only member of it's genus.
