The fish is the Redfin, a predatory cyprinid from Mongolia, china, and Russia. The scientific name is Pseudaspius leptocephalus.
The top pic is from a Russian biodiversty site and was taken by A. Sukhanov, and the lower pic is from Fishbase and was taken by Johnny Jensen.
Heheh, I just had to throw that in.
I will find a fish.

u just had to rub it in didn't u :(

ahhh geez! there's millions of fish like that, silver herring type things!

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............................................................

At least we know it is at least sometimes a fresh water fish, and we can eliminate a lot of fish at a glance, now for the fun part.

Nice job on the hoevenii Jed, I saw something strange about this meter long minnow, in parts of the Mekong Basin it is seasonally toxic enough to make people puke because it eats the seeds of the Chaulmoogra tree. The rest of the year it is fine.

I could only find the same picture, in fishbase by Reyes, RB., but here is a picture of where it is from. The pic is from Wikpedia and is Lake Taal (formerly Bombon), Luzon, Phillipines. The fish is the freshwater Sardinella, Sardinella tawillis.
