I still think its just regular blood parrot and it doesnt looks like a parrot x convict hybrid.

She is actually 75% red devil, 25% gold severum. She used to have a gold severum for a mate, and 2 blood parrots in with her in my 75 gallon. She turned on them and killed them all one day after she layed eggs. The eggs never hatched. She still lays eggs every time I do a water change. She is 13 inches long. I know she is this cross because I bought her years ago from a man who had the 2 parents in the tank together and some of their fry, which looked exactly like she did only smaller.

13 inches long..? Yeah I will believe that when I see a picture of it next to a tape measure.. Looks like a 6" max blood parrot to me.

Last time I weighed her she was over a pound. I'll try to get pics with her next to a ruler. Her mouth doesn't close, but the man I bought her from said she was part severum. I asked this same question on another forum and nobody could decide what she is for sure, so I thought I'd ask here and see if the guy was lying to me on what she really is. She looks different from all my other blood parrots (more elongated and the only permanently pink parrot I've ever seen).

Most blood parrots are different from each other, no two parrot are excatly same. Remember blood parrots are hybrids, the hybrids are always variable. Pink blood parrots are common, so it wont be surprised. I have a blood parrot thats not shortbodied (hes all flat and no potbelly).

agreed :)

Just took her out, measured her and reweighed her. Turns out she's 9 inches (that's what I get for having dad measure her), but she weighs 20 ounces according to my mom's baby weigher. I guess the breeder was trying to make an extra buck off of her when I bought her.:(

That's okay she's still a nice fish and a beast at 9". That is awesome you've managed to keep her in such good health for so long.

She just died today. So disappointing. No signs of anything wrong with her. All levels at zero, and pH of 8. She has been less active over the past few weeks, and has eaten less each day though. Just did a water change on her tank (after she died) and put a red zebra, a green terror, and a warmouth that I've had in a 20 gallon in there (all three fish are less than 2 inches).

How strange a 14 yr old fish died a week after you posted her picture. I'm sorry you lost her but I'd be a little hesitant to post pics of my fish if I were you :(

I had another blood parrot, roughly the same age as her (they were bought at the same size at the same time) in another tank that died only a week before this one. Both had a very odd lump on one side of the body. It looked a lot like an internal tumor.
