its a very nice specimen cant wait too see it bigger....

It's now in its own tank filled with guppy fries. Hope it doesn't eat itself to death and grow very very fast.

keep us updated bradda...

very interesting baby..you definately must grow him out..if he is indeed from a lake pair...looks very much like a tem fry...I wonder if there was any genes from the original tem batch mixed in from the early 1980's...could possibly been an intermingling of a tem and ocel or monoc way back and the genes carried on through the generations.

It's definitely from the local lake. It's from that stick loaded with eggs I saved a few months ago. I've never seen any Tems here except the ones I grew out in my tank which are now at least 16 inches.

I've long suspected that the local PBs are more than just Ocell and Mono hybrids. I've grown some that looks like Orinos.

The fries that grew out from the stick loaded with eggs has more fries with only two spots or stripes than I'm used to seeing from the batches I've grown.

Last year I've also found around 6 fries that have their rear half completely black. They grew out to looking like Monos eventually with more dark markings on their caudal peduncle.

I hope this mystery fry grow up to more like a Tem.

Tem x Ocell or Tem x Mono would look schaweet.

hey juan, I am also in south florida and catch pbass all the time (although nowhere near as many as you). I recently found one in my minnow trap, and am trying to grow him out. What species do you think he is?
