  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha there's been some correct answers....

anyways, since most of u know whats in the second bag...

Bag 1: 2 x Mystery gars

bag 2: 3(2) x florida gars:D

Whoa.....that is the biggest net I've seen anyone used for an indoor aquarium.:WHOA: That net makes my 12" net looks like an amateur!

from the looks of it (with the given pics) it seems like you're racking up the Cubans! unfortunate that we can't find any others that old out here (we know mine are at least 6 years old, likely 7).

looking forward to further pics! now that my 7-days-a-week research job has ended (not my gar work), i may actually get around to posting some new pics in the upcoming weeks :) --

:D:D

got 2 new cubans (24" & 30") & 2 new floridas (15" & 18") last night. i have 9 gars with me now!!...awesome as that is, it will unfortunately be short lived. the tanks are bursting as it is and i cannot afford the 30"er. will be putting that particular fish up for sale, leaving me with 3 cubans. one of which i suspect might be pregnant (more on that later). i also saw a 2ft longnose last night and i have to say it looks completely different from mine. giving me the feeling mine might indeed be an unusual fish rather than a big longnose with a broken jaw.

pic of the "preg" cuban, and a pic of the massive 30"er completely dwarfing my old 23"er...

also, great to hear about the news, i was seriously starting plan a guerilla photo shoot on your tanks....

send those other Cubans our way over here!

the "preg" Cuban is likely obese...Atractosteus seem to be much more prone to this (or at least show it) than the other genus. that other one truly is huge...probably the biggest i have seen in home aquaria. unfortunately most of the Cubans here in the US have all but disappeared (Richard has his, I have mine...some guy in jersey -also on MFK- had claimed to have several but we've heard nothing from him for a while).

either way, impressive specimens for sure. i would guess the bigger ones would likely be females--

hmm. diet time then. which is probably cool since i seldom feed my big fishes. however, it was kept under the same husbandtry as the big one, who is pretty slim. any chance it might not be a case of obseity? any idea of how it might affect the fishes's lifespan?

i would send it over for sure. it's an impressive specimen. but the shipping is going to kill. if you're seriously interested i will get a quote and send you better pics of the cuban.

lastly, wasn't there a shipment from about 2-3years ago? where'd they all go??? any idea where the cubans that michael had go to after he quit? do you know of any farms that commercially produce cubans?
