Guess what's in the bag?

He won't "thicken up" like a bichir does, so be careful not to overfeed him. They're called ropefish because they're rope-shaped, after all. He does look a little skinny, but not abnormally so.

And yes, cover EVERY hole. I would not keep a ropefish in any kind of a tank with an open (hang on back, etc) filter, and you have to be careful about them getting into overflows that don't have large enough openings as well.

One of the first fish I got was a ropefish, and they're still amongst my favorites, but my first guy escaped by swimming up the waterfall of an AC70 and knocking plastic I'd put there out of the way. Came home to find him dry on my living room floor, and my cats surprisingly terrified.

i had a tiretrack eel that did the same thing :( only had it for a couple weeks. ended up in the filter once. and on the ground in front of a hooded tank somehow, all dried up and hard

Nice looking rope. You should get him some friends though. They do best in groups. They're incredibly social with their kind.

I'll be on the look out for more, the other one they had was too small to survive my tank.

Nice Rope! Agree, cover every opening. Duck tape works great. These guys are escape artists. But I think once it gets settled, you will enjoy watching your rope snake its way through plants and caves. I have 5 right now and they have become my favorite fish.

Finally got a hold of a friend for him. His pectoral fin is damaged but it looks like it should grow back.
