Are these Guianacara Geayi?

They were sold to me as G. sphenozona but that is incorrect. They aren't G. geayi, either. Arbour and Lopez-Fernandez just published a key to Guianacara and it rules out both of those because adults of those species do not retain the black coloration on the first few spines of the dorsal fin. The ones that do and have a similar lateral bar pattern to mine are G. stergiosi, G. owroewefi, and G. dacrya (new species). I do not think it is G. owroewefi because the lateral bar tapers to a width of only 1 scale and never is wider than 3, which leaves G. stergiosi or G. dacrya. The final characters distinguishing these two species are dusky branchiostegal membranes and a more sharply tapered lateral bar in dacrya. Neither character is clear enough in my fish to say either way. But I do know it isn't geayi or sphenozona, and most of the fish being sold under those names ARE WRONG.

Update: wigglers as of yesterday morning! A good sized huddled mass of them in the back corner of the cave. Mom and dad seem quite proud. Pics to follow when I have something I can photograph.

I bought a pair of these here in San Antonio and absolutely love them. Mine look exactly like yours...mine were sold to me as "keyhole cichilds" at about 1". I lost my male about a month ago when I was transferring to another tank (previously established fully cycled). he was fine for about two weeks after the move and then just died. Sorry for the threadjack...congrats.
