lol they definitely are. The square fish are doing well and much more active now. I think they are not in the mood though - the hump got a lot smaller. You'll like them better now! ;)

Beautiful fish!!! Btw my balzanii haven't haven't gotten in the mood yet and their humps haven't returned either.... oh well its still early in the breeding season.

Thanks! I've been wondering how the 6 month difference would affect fish from the southern part of SA. Ken bred a pair he brought back before but I think it took him almost a year and they spawned in late fall or early winter, which was consistent with their original clock.

Hmmm interesting. I've kept mine in winter mode since coming back from Uruguay and I'm just warming up the water now. Right now the water temp is in the low 70s so we'll see what happens!

My water is at 80-82 already. They sure eat a lot!

Until recently mine were not able to gorge themselves because they were in with the pikes I brought home and boy do they hog the food!!!
