No I've never eaten pheasant,wouldn't mind trying it though.
It's sort of a dry, gamey bird when compared to chicken. I've hunted them plenty of times so I've grown up liking the taste, but not everyone feels the same way about it.

I have tens of them in the farm. Everybody who has fowl has them.
Put them with the chicken as soon as possible and make them get used to feeding with the chicken.
If you are afraid, trim their flight feathers. Absolutely no harm done in that. Next molt they will grow again.
I always try to call the neighbors' guinea fowls in the range from time to time to see if I can nail one of these things. The guinea fowls sure likes to roaming so far away from their owners' place during daylight but almost always came back.Can't tell you what they taste like... They stayed out of 10gauge range.
