Gulper catfish ate Bichir :(

No but my son amd i absolutely love them. Never had a chance to set up a dedicated tank though. Sorry for your loss. No meed to beat ya self up though

No experience, so feel free to disregard this post in its entirety; but from the various info I've seen and read on them, pretty much the majority experience of them, is that it's a fish that tends to lazily swim in the one spot in aquariums (hence the small tank size), and gobbles big fish.

That's pretty much it.

No idea on their hardiness etc though, which I guess is a big factor to consider

Lmao! That is true what they do. They open their mouths and lazily try to eat something its super funny. But one time I actually seen one of the gulpers actually giving chase to my 8-9 inch odoe african pike and had its face in its mouth. Seen that happened and was shocked of whats going. I ended up jabbing the gulper with a Petco stick grabber kajigger and it let go. But a month or two later the odoe disappeared in my tank
