Gulper catfish - before and after photos

Before it eats...

After it ate my cycling 3"+ parrot fish. This gulper catfish is only about 5"
long.

I honestly did not think becase of the height of the parrot fish and width, it will be able to think it is food. I guess I am wrong.

What a pig! lol. Must be fun feeding such a beast. What do you usually feed it?

I guess tankmate selection is pretty hard seeing as catfish are already devourers of anything that fits in thier mouths & gulpers have mouths literally bigger then their stomachs. going by what I've seen as I've yet to own 1 they would need fish at least 3" bigger then them & no cylindrical shape fish at all unless 6" longer. I hope it was the hybrid parrot not the true Pssita (can't spell).

just prawn. I have to move the parrot in cause the tank the parrot was cycling now has some L200 green phantom pleco in. I don't want the parrot to nip on their fin. I seriously thought that parrot was big enough fast enough not to get eaten...

Sorry for your loss. But being on this board and following Gulper Catfish threads pretty much nothing but more gulpers are the only adequate tankmates heh
