one of my gulpers spends all day wedged under driftwood..his top fin is a little torn and he has weird brown pimple on his belly. i took the wood out and both gulper became 100% more active.

my question is should i keep the drift wood out permanently?
should i buy something else?
should i keep the driftwood in?

what should i do about the torn fin and brown pimple?

thanks

I would get some pics of the injuries or sores up to be ID'd

Is the gulper eating with the driftwood out? If so keep it out, if not, put it back in stat. My marble cat would not eat without his little hiding place.

gulpers are nocturnal they hate light, u need a hiding spot for them. driftwood is okay because they like the dark yellow water. a torn fin should grow back easily, not sure about that brown spot prolly born like that. is he eating fine? i feed mine cooked shrimp/ mussels, i stopped feeding live fish because he got sick before, they are only active at night. u shuld build a cave for him with rocks or something

I'd give them hiding places for their own comfort. That's got to be stressful for a nocturnal fish not to have anywhere to hide.

Works in the same way for my catfish.
Give them a place to hide, they'll feel comfy and start to show themselves.
