Gun lovers: tell me your 5 favorite calibers

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like guns that don't kill people.... oh wait.

My 3 top favorites would have to be 375 H&H Magnum, 458 Lott, 22-250 you can hunt just about anything with that combo.

I'm a deer hunter. .270 Win (130 grain) Browning x-bolt all the way.

For the price, you can't beat a Mosin Nagant:headbang2I love mine, i had a M44 that i unfortunately had to sell so i picked up a 91-30 a while later. Still keeping my eyes peeled for some more Mosins though!!!

I love my 98-30 M38. I found a good deal on the original raised scope off of ebay so now it really looks the part. My LGS has whole cases of the M44 and M38 still coated in the packing grease. $99 for the M44 and $129 for the M38.

Then you should like all guns. They are merely tools used by man.

Otherwise, I guess you don't use knives with that type of logic...

Now, back to the topic, I don't really have five favorite calibers. The two calibers I've used the most are .22 and .44, but I own a 1911 pistol so I can add .45 to my list. I've used numerous .270s and they shoot well. As far as shotguns go I'm partial a good 12 guage pump or side by side.

For manufacturers, I like Ruger, Browning, and CZ from personal use. My Rock Island Arms 1911 is nice, but not as nice as some other manufacturers 1911s. I got it for a good price though.

From a cost perspective I love plinking away with my CZ 452 Trainer. It fits me well, and is an amazingly well built rifle that also looks nice. It sure is overkill for a .22, but it makes me happy.
