Mine go on holidays into the big tank, if they become too much.
It's like M&M's for the predators!:D

lol I like it... I thought it was going to be something awful... guppies wouldnt last long in my tank either........

Many will survive if you have some good cover for hiding. The other big threat is power filter intakes. Baby guppies that get within a few inches of a power filter intake are dead. They just aren't strong enough to swim away.

Your going to have an Awesome guppy tank man , as long as you give plenty of cover and when they become over populated put some in your predator tank my baby oscars love them lol

I would put about 5 fancy guppies and breed them. You could make some money off them, they would survive better and they have more color. If you don't use fancy guppies I would use feeders.

wait i thought that the feeder guppies were "hardier" and dont die as easily as the fancy ones. Correct me if i am wrong.

I always thought Fancy would do better because they take better care of them because they are not used as a snack.

haha in my experience there about the same. my mom tried both in her 55 gal and they all died within 3 weeks both times. i grab 3 of each and throw them in a 10 gal and in about a week in a half im overflowing in guppies of both kinds

I second the java moss idea. It worked for me when I bred them, although some were still eaten.

if i just keep them in the tank, how do u guys suppose i should feed the offspring? Im scared their going to not get enough food

i use fancy guppies my self they look better and seem to be heather

from what i have seen at least.
and food for them is the same food for the parents, just crushed in to a powder and dumped in. i use ramshorn snails to clean up the tank and provide food for the parents..they eat the babies or most of them so you shouldn't get over populated..and if you do smashing them on the glass makes more food for the guppies^_^

i hope to upgrade my 10 gallon breeder to a 55 gallon soon
right now i have 5 females 2 males ( all fancy) i get 70-90 fry per female every 28 ish days ....so youll have an army of fish soon as your females mature out and get around 2-2 1/2 inches

i over feed the parents 2-3 times a day...it keeps them from eating the fry, as well as gives the fry in the tank a chans to eat...the parents turn in to vultures around feeding time, and if not stuffed most of the day, even with allot of plant cover they will make snacks of the babies
