I separate the pregnant females but so far ive killed three batches. one o fthe mothers gave birth while I was at school and she ate the babies the other one was during a water change were 2 fish got into the box and bye bye babies. the last one was she just gave birth with out me separating her well ll have another chance in 24 days or so

aww bumber im sorry they can be pesky little brats when trying to breed, iv gotten lucky i do not normally have to box them i was just showing a point here...but if your having problems look for the cloth breeder box... its larger and the female gets less stressed also harder to see threw so other fish in the tank do not stress her fill it with plants or cover it to make her feel more secure but make sure there is something in the box like a knotted up ball of air hosing works..something so she can only move around to give birth and has to work at getting at the babies....see if you have any luck that way ^_^ .

alsoe try to up to up the feeding on the parents..the fuller they are the less likely they will want to case moving food around IE babies

cloudy vid but it shows all the babies...sorta even in the camera you cant see them all, but you get the bulk of them

its cloudy due to a cycle from removing my surface plants that were dieing off do to aphids...its cleared up the day after this vid (only had the camera for a few days)
enjoy!

my turn around is pretty fast..i feed them at about 1/4-1/2 inch most of the time witch takes about a month^_^
have another tank going up to grow some out longer so maybe 2-3 months to get inch and bigger. im feeding a 3ish inch sculpin, so nothing big i never seem to run out as well they seem to give birth rather stagger so i have babies of all sizes at any given time. there is nearly 200 in the tank ATM babies that is maybe even more its hard to count they all cloud in to the gravel and plants.
if you look int he vid there is a smaller pastille male with dots in his fins..hes about 2 months old maybe month and a half

Are you raising the fry in a different tank or in the trap? I've got two 10g tanks back to back with a pump to one and a siphon returning it to the first. Guppy fry get sucked into the second tank and can't get through the nylon bag I wrapped the pump in to return and get eaten. No fry trap needed = low-stress births.

no they are raised in the tank.. they are in the breeder because i was trying to make a point with number of fry a guppy can have on another thread.
i only have on female who will give birth in the breeder box and sens i caught her doing it i thought i would share, and i had to remove allot of my cover plants so i wanted to box some of this batch, they will be out and swimming in the tank in a day or two i like to fatten them up so they have a leg up.

and the 10 gallon is all i have for room (other then my new 5 gallon that will be used for some grow out once its established )..this tank is in my bathroom

sweet that is a pretty good turn around for sure
ive got an african set up im trying to do that with
i might set up my 35 and try and bredd some guppies aswell as use that tank for growing out plants for relocation
thanks for the idea i will need to feed my p bass some live soon ( convicts / guppies )

That's an excellent idea Knifegill.
