Guppies

Hi everybody!
I decided to give guppy breeding a try to cut down on expenses for my red bellies. I recently had a pregnant guppy give birth to only one live fry and one dead... that was it. Is this normal? Am i doing something wrong?

it is a 38 gallon, 12 female guppies and 4 males, It has been running for a little over a year, I have a few swords for plants, I am running an aquaclear 110 and 50. And my parameters: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, ph 7.5.

hay!!! leave my old filters out of this....working on getting a cam for those pics still as well

guppies make good feeders to..i breed cons as well though

how long have you had them and how big are they?
just give them some time, i breed guppies and it takes a few months for them to get up and breeding..as well as get fully mature

i have 5 females and 2 males in a 20 gallon....i get about 100 fry per female every 3 weeks...i can pump up the fry to about 1/2 inch with in a month .

Its funny, I finally slayed my Old 55 gal HOB cleaning it out I dropped it.... crack now I have the new tetra an its SUCH JUNK.

aww sadness..mine are all still up and running^_^...well sorta one keeps stopping..and i have to hit it a few times to get it going ^_^

OP: i would suggest more plants maybe..java moss is really good for fry to hide in and not get eaten..i feed my adults 4-5 times a day..small bits each time to keep them full ...way less eating of there young this way ^_^

As long as the water temp is fairly higher than usual (78-79 degrees) and the water parameters are normal, you have good vegetation and filtration, you are bound to get fry when it comes to guppies.

Just set my 10 gallon up today

all right so from what i have read you probably only got 2 fry becuase he has just matured(was her first batch). the next bacth should be noticeably bigger good luck in 4-6 weeks.
