Guppy fry in an unicycled tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Deadlies I have some gorgeous blue tailed guppies with a purple sheen never seen anything like it. But good to know about the ted colour I would take that into consideration.

Also I a very patient person so I don't mind waiting for the colour to show up. I'm planning on selective breeding in the near future but for me a lot is about the experience and not just about the results.

Btw my guppies are doing fine but I'm keeping up with the water changes until the milky water clears up

There have been some awesome guppy varieties over the years, and I found all guppies to be rewarding as long as u get guppies from multiple sources to prevent inbreeding(common problem with guppies) I have seen hybrid endlers, pure black and even albino guppies

Here r some of my faves(doesn't have to be your faves, keep what u like)half black reds, snakeskin, zebrinous, multicolor, double swordtail.
The type u described sounds like a genetic albino veiltail

Frank my fry nursery is doing lot better already I'm doing WC twice a day just incase and there is no ornaments in the tank just the sponge filter and a fake plant which have been in the main tank since I got it.

I m going to add lights soon so that I can add some java moss but at the moment it's not get enough light to add the moss
I think something else is going on here then, there's no reason to do WC twice a day......you can check your parameters twice a day, but unless you hve a Tiger Shark in a 10gallon, there's no need for WC twice a day. WHat are your Ammonia, Nitrate, etc readings??

Frank I think you mis understood me what I meant was that I were doing WC as need which slowed down but my guppy nursery seems have cleared up now. And all of them seem to do very well. I fed them some brine shrimp last night and those fry were all over them feasting, they had these cute round bellies when they were done eating

Deadliest my female seem to be either a Blue Dragon(most likely) or a Blue diamond. I don't know about the male yet he seems to have some half black reds in his DNA but I'm not sure I got some light in my tank so I might be able to get a pic of him tonight . I don't think his the daddy of my baby fry though since I bought her already pregnant, I only had her two weeks before she gave birth.

I like the blue varieties more since the yellow/orange/red varieties seems to be quit common here but the blues less so. I also like the snake skins maybe I should try for some blue snake skin variety as they are super scarce

Yes inbreeding is the thing I worry about most that's why I'm considering selective breeding to keep that from becoming a problem. I also only bought two guppies since I didn't want all my guppies to be from one source plus I only want the most gorgeous ones, I'm going to LFS out of town this weekend to see if I can get some more guppies that i like

Be sure only by female from 1 source and male from other source and make sure those 2 LFS don't near each other or in same area because they might get their live stocks from a same wholesale guy :P
