Guppy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i started out with guppies, and honestly the biggest problem isnt getting the fry to survive, its what to do with all of them hahaha, i started out with a male and 2 females, and each female gave birth so many times i lost count... i didnt really mind, until i had 200+fry swimming around...
Im not sure how you feel about euthanasia, but for my tank I found that inplementing some sort of "unnatural selection" was a great idea. you can slowly weed out certain characteristics you dont like by rmeoving those fry from the gene pool hahahaha
call me cruel, but i thought the idea was ingenious, totally playing nature

I dont know if anybvody said this but i would recommend to feed them brine shrimp. I believe they will eat that. Also, Are the adults in the tank with them, If so, the fry could get eaten.

Notice the bottom right. One guppy is starting to get color on their tale fin.

Look im 14 and breed show guppies that can go into shows by the ifga. I have 12 tanks now and some breeders got 200 - 300 tanks. First off you got to remove the fry. Fill up a 2.5 from your 10 with the babies with a sponge filter in it. They will go missing from the power filter. They can only eat microworms there first week of life. Then after a week they can eat baby brine shrimp. You can also feed very fine flakes. Feed them 6 times a day also. And make sure the tank is bare bottom and do a 20 % water change 3 times a week. Now when they get 7 months lok at there size. The wont be fat but big. Also if you want to sex them now females have a black dot under there belly.

I used to have a bunch of guppies in the 55, there were soon over 100 and it all began with just one pregnant guppy from walmart. :D

Se1an: Mine were eating powdered food ever since their first days of life. Why do they need microworms? More protien?

In my 10 gallon I have only about 20 fry. I have a power filter, they swim fine since they are two months old. I have tried to give them a snack to my angelfish but now they have become to larger.
