Is it just me or are these Vieja Fenestratum?

I have a fene and he looks nearly identical to that second fish,
I doubt these have much different (or FH) blood in them.

Of course, they're really nice fenes, so I'd like to get a female for George,
but 200-250 is ridiculous.
Does anybody see nice (female) fenes like these for sale in the states?

I'm sure you can read on my sig that I've been looking for a while
 
They are line bred of Hartwegi. He's a very honest seller and wouldn't dare to rip anyone off, the price is fair IMO. You haven't seen the price of top quality Thai Red Head yet. :D
 
Hmm interesting how did you find that out? (about them being hartwegi)
Seems to me that my fish may be a hartwegi then,
I just figured he was a fene because he looks like the pictures I've seen of them, but he looks a lot more like these fish than those pictures.
(he was unlabeled when i got him, so i just knew he was a vieja)

George looks like these fish with just a little less red on him,
funny thing is that he's almost a foot long and I paid 20$

SO you're saying 200-250 is a fair price for a nice sub-juvie vieja like this?

yeah, I assume pretty much all of the fish they sell in thailand etc are pretty much line bred. SE asian culture fascinates me in that way, the desire to be number one in whatever you do results in some fantastic fish when you can breed them outside.

I've got some nice ones, but they don't match to a cichlid after youve been doing this for so many generations

It was pure luck that I got my first one, any suggestions on where to find female hartwegi? Do people like rapps sell them

Or should I just suck it up and drop a ton of money on some nice females from thailand?
