Awesome. Try to train them on pellets. I'm sure many aro/bichir keepers will chime in.

Nope, don't need to. Just feed the pellets as per normal. No training required. Bichirs are not so picky on food, even if it is fed live feeders for as long as he can remember, he can be easily convert to pellets in just a few days.

As long as your bichir have access to the pellets, they will eat them eventually.

You should take out the fish and put them in a bigger tank or sell them, you said yourself they are cramped

First. Its a normal behavior for fish to try to hide when they're feeling threatened. Its a survival thing. Leave decor alone it would provide little bit security for the fish instead of the fish banging themselves on the glasses.

Erm, i think the OP was trying to say that the feeders are hiding in the deco and that his fishes could not enter the deco to get the feeders

what was the 1st food you gave him? how did you train him on pellets?

yaps you got my meaning!

I'm definitely no expert but I have heard that you should always judge fish and space by 1 square inch of fish per gallon of water? Anyone else heard this? If it's true it might help for future purchases.

Not with cichlids or other aggressive fish. That rule is mostly for community fish.
