GUYS ONLY, don't try this at home!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just doubled the size of my fish house, meaning twice as much room for the current pond and tanks.
since my wife told me I could, I never even stopped to think what it was going to cost me (and I don’t mean cash price). Now you have me worried!!!!!
I did something like that and ended up moving across the country to live close to her family- it’s was a heavy cost ?

When I had my first stint in the hobby years ago I was only young and it never once registered in my mind that where I was living at the time, and the partner I had, may very well change, and not just once or twice either, lol.

If I remember rightly I had piranhas at the time and life dealt me one of those bum deals. I had to shift my tank and fish about, and as you very well know it is no fun whatsoever. In fact I took such a dislike to it I decided to come out of the hobby until I was more settled and the risk of moving again was practically zero. That was in the early 2000's.

I married in 2014 and then we moved into our final house in 2015, with no plans to move in the future. I felt extremely settled and so decided to give the hobby another go. Six years later and I'm up to my neck in it again, and loving it.

That moving thread of yours and all the hassle and bad luck you had is the most traumatic thread I've ever read on here, lol.

Ya it was a challenge for sure. I have done a few things that I previously deemed “impossible “ in my own mind , so now I suppose I need to do some more and just keep going. It still isn’t over but I feel like I have made a fair bit of progress.

I read this one out loud in front of my wife and her expression was priceless. Hard to find a more appropriate place for the term “oh boy”. Lol.

"needs wife's permission to buy another fishtank" I can't relate.

Sometimes I wish that I had a dedicated fish room, maybe away from the actual house, in an outbuilding for example. An area that is mine and I do what I wish with.

But my tanks, and i'm certainly not alone, are in the actual family house. In this scenario, unless you have a partner who's as nuts about the hobby as you are, then compromise is a word which unfortunately comes into play, lol.

Yes,it would be nice to have a separate building for housing the tanks and whatnot.

If you're not married yet then this is the best advice you will ever receive in preparation.......
