Guys who own pits and other big dogs, tell me more about this

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The collar is telling but not in the way suggested earlier. The spikes are all outward facing and the dog has no fighting scares so I'd assume it's for show and the dog is well behaved, otherwise it would have inward facing spikes. The one pure pitt I had spent a lot of time with was leaner and taller, Deisel was till built like a tank though he though of himself as a lap dog.

As far as other large dog you have to keep them lean or their life spans are very much shortened, much more so than smaller breeds. Agression wise big dogs tend to be less aressive (you have to make most of them aggrsive) while the little yappy ones are more likely to bite, vets words not mine. People rarely report chiaua attacks, possibly for fear of ridcule.

thats a sad looking dog too built too lick himself

I would never buy a dog from someone with such a crappy song on their webpage...

I LOL'd the heavy 3-4" wide spike color(from experiance with large dogs/collars 1-2" is all the bigger I would really go) and the dumb chain leash. We're trying too hard. I don't like that dog because IMO it looks unatural to have that much musculature. To each his own.

That dog must juice alot...dam must slam that juice right in its ass with a huge needle I think shoot up once never stop happened to this dog...That would be some scary roid rage

See, I like dogs like that. Short, stocky, and heavily muscled. It may be because it's a refelction of me and my frame, but I like the way it looks.

That said, if I wanted a pitbull, I would not get one of those. A pitbull should be lean, yet muscular. Not stocky, and heavily muscled.

The dogs on that site look like a bulldog x pitbull... "bully" pitbull. Again, I like how they look, but that's not what a pitbull should look like.

I'm also a fan of the stocky muscular pit look, but not of the joint problems that may come with it.

How much is she asking for one?

pups will probably be 2-3K

I agree with pretty much all the posts in this thread. Post # 2 was probably the most informative. I have a pit that weighs about 80 pounds. He is not short and broad like that. He is muscular and tall. Pits are generally athletic and have tons of stamina. They are also very needy and clumsy at the same time.

IMO, you should go to www.pitbullforum.com and do some research. Unfortunately, my wife and I jumped the gun and bought a pit out of state. It's the sweetest dog, however, it does have hip problems. Make sure you get papers and medical history for any dog that you choose. It is worth it.

Overall, I would avoid those low wide dogs. After time, their will be some health issues and it's going to be tough on you and the dog. If you do decide on one of those dogs, then make sure you give it a good diet. We use Solid Gold Wolf King food and it's awesome. We refuse to feed grocery store kibble.

Hope that helps and good luck... this IS a big purchase.
