I thought that Melafix and Pimafix can deplete oxygen from a tank by feeding some forms of bacteria making the fish breath faster. Salt is the better treatment IMO.

Never heard of that one but interesting just the same.Ive used both of them quite a bit over the years.I guess the use of them could create a problem in poorly aerated tanks.
