Gymnogeophagus Tank......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
soulds like it will be an awesome setup. i have no experience with gymnos but im thinking my next tank will be gymno tank.

from what i've been reading most people dont heat the tank so during winter to take care of the cool down period.

i wish i could be more help. post some pics :D

I have a group of 5 Gymngeo sp Paso Pache, 3"-5" and their 1" fry.
They spawned in my 300 gal rubbermaid pond outside last summer, and have been in the basement in an aquarium all winter (temp @60'F)
They are only a bit aggressive with each other (at the low temps), and ignore any other of the fish they are kept with. A pair of Goodeids (Zoogonoticus tequilla and and some 1" Paratheraps breidori fry.
They eat any standard type fish food.

Let me know if you have any questions, I have had my Gymnos up for about a year now, and I started with the Paso Pasche I....

I have the Following in my Tank:

[FONT=&quot]5 x-Gymnogeophagus n. sp.paso pasche I "Rio Santa Lucia"
5 x-Gymnogeophagus n. sp.blue neon "Valentines"
9 x-Corydoras paleatus (Peppered Cory)
2 x-Corydoras aeneus (Bronze)
7 x-Swordtails – WC – Montezuma Strain
2 x-Misgurnus anguillicaudatus (Golden Dojo Loach)

The tank has been working fine, with a mainline temp of 68-72 degrees..... The Swords breed like nuts, and provide much live food, but they have been thriving off of Freeze Dried Krill, NLS, Frozen Brine (Spriluna), Mysis, Bloodworms, and Daphia (The last 4 all frozen). Thanks to the Dude (duane) for my Paso Pache I's.

Oh it's a 45 breeder, soon to be a 55......
