In your experience does colder water decrease their color and activity?

Yes, absolutely. These guys have been much much cooler for a couple weeks and have just lit up the last few days with the water climbing up into the mid 60s and low even low 70s. When the water is about 50 they just sit around mostly and look fairly grey

G. meridionalis are now the pastel-colored substrate spawners. G. rhabdotus don't have the vertical bars like G. terrapurpura.

Beautiful little male grow out from last summers spawning. . These fish are just outstanding. Personality plus.

I've got 6 F1s Arroyo Gajo that spent the year in my garage. With some bloodfin teras and corydoras paleatus... recently upgraded them from a 40B to a 75 gallon... Getting some nice color and size.. Awesome cichlids, very active..

I love the gajo fish too. A lot more yellow and gold the the Río San Juan fish.
Almost like gold bs blue rams.

This little pair of F2s that were born last summer spawned today. These fish have never been inside.
