gymnos generally require a cool down period. most people keep them in an unheated tank. my gymno tank is currently at 71degrees and will prolly get a little cooler. most fish won't tolerate this cool down period. people say the cool down is vital to gymnos living longer

I have some labiatus rio olmar and some Balzanii along with a few A. Oblongums and yes they seem to like the cooler temps. I don't have heaters in my Gymno tanks and they seem happy. I've become very attached to these fish in recent months.
