bcuz were moving and temporairly living with my mom the new tank i finished is in the garage the tank ranges from 83 to 86 degrees i just ordered 5 1" gymnos and was wondering if theyd be ok in the tank or if i should get a 20 gallon long in the house till december wen we move.

p.s. i have plans to remove the glass lid and use light defusing panel and float frozen water bottles in the 58 but wasnt sure if itd be enough thanks for the noooob gymn help guys.

these fish are tropical and should be okay if the water temp does not approach 90. then again ive heard that keeping the water at 90 is okay as well. i dont see a problem with it unless the temperature change of the water is more than 10 degrees within a day.

anyone else wanna chime in?

Agreed ! My garage sometimes almost hits 90 on some days in summer . As long as it's aired and oxygenated will be fine . I have also had it chang 10c in a day and even that's not been problem . Not much can be done in Uk as spend 9 months heating it up and a couple with no control ! That only makes an 11 month year but never mind

i asked the same thing on cichlid-forum and someone said that they collected gymnos in water temps in the 90s. i wouldn't do it for long but they can tolerate it

I think Ken mentioned he collected some stuff in 98 degree water

Get the 20 and put em in the house! Uruguay is not really "tropical" not any more tropical than florida anyhow.
