Gymnotus stenoleucus?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How is it doing now? Im hoping to buy one sometime this week.
It has been hiding a lot, yesterday when the lights turned off it came out a couple times with no more interest from the hujeta, i hope itll stay that way and it will slowly but surely come out a little more.

I feed him by placing some food in front of his shelter, he comes out to grab it then stays inside till dark mostly, sometimes it takes a quick peek.

Keeping my hujeta's well fed and throwing in some feeder guppys helped a lot as well, turns out they dont hunt as much when theyre full, frozen shrimp/bloodworms doesnt cut it for the biggest one anymore i guess, good thing i got like 50 guppys in my other tank and might get 50 for free this week aswell

Small update, the hujeta's seem to have lost all interest in the knife, it comes out randomly during the day / night too now.

Ofcourse its still quite shy as expected, but its getting better by the day.

Just got to keep the hujeta's fed well and have enough hiding spots and it seems to work out eventually

I had a large ghost knife living with a red tail payara in a 300 & at night the ghost would bother the payara. Eventually payara got spooked & slammed against the acrylic. He survived but it was a blow & I separated.

Till so far my gymnotus hasnt tried to bother any of the fish i think, its more busy doing its own thing looking for food and hanging out in his cave. But who knows whats to come, im prepared to give him his own tank if needed so well see what happens

I don't think the ghost actually meant to bother the payara.
The payara just was mellow & the ghost would go crazy at night.
He only came out at night the hungry type 😃

I have decided the gymnotus knife deserves its own tank, i got a 120x44x60cm tank for cheap.

The hujeta's were almost done messing with the knife but as soon as it started to come out more the biggest hujeta's interest in its tail came back.

So ive added some extra cover in the form of twigs, wood and leafs so it has its own little area to hang out in, as soon as the tank is ready and has same water parameters i will add him to the other tank.

I want the fish to feel safe and right now its not in immediate danger but will get hassled every once in a while.

Im thinking of moving the bleeding heart tetra's with the knife aswell and might look into getting some type of wood catfish to add with the hujeta gars, one thing at a time tho im busy enough with these fish as is at the moment.

Maybe some day the knife is big enough to be placed back with the hujeta's, but for now i rather enjoy them seperately
