H.Armatus update December 2010! Bought August 2009!

how is the Armatus with your rays?

nice set up man.. we have similar taste except i have IT dats instead of pikes and bichirs for the rays...i still have all 4 of my armatus at similar size 14-15" and 2 black arros.. i need a bigger tank also.. 10'x3'x30"

I like it a lot, the setup and pick of fish. Very cool.

Thanks! I am just glad I saved one Armatus out of the three. Now I have two tats growing out in the 230 and they are chasing each other. I thought they would be more passive but maybe not! The armatus doesn't bother any of the fish. The actual kings,rulers or just plain SOB's of the tank are the pikes! LOL The bigger they get the more room they want!!

So the pic of the two small armatus is in 2009 and the current single pic is a little over a year growth spurt? That's a lot of growing.......are you somehow power feeding?

No, I just got them off feeders right away and started feeding them smelts and then they all started eating anything and everything for frozen food. He doesn't eat dry food as he gets a varied diet of frozen and as you can see he is growing fine!

I'm a big fan I'm putting together a similar tank with my 360 gallon. I putting together a school of H. scomberoides and H. tatauaia. Once I have got a tank big enough I'm going to consider H. armatus.
