Couldn't see them from the front, but the females bright orange belly, and the pairs edgy patrolling seemed to suggest a spawn.
Had to take the shot from above the tank.

 
very cool! Congrats I want some nics so bad but not very easy to find around me.
 
They're awesome, I have about 60 babies and can't get rid of them. Funny how that works, the demand is always where the supply isn't.

They are really pretty common around here too, there are usually 2 or 3 bags at every aquarium society auction. That's where I got them as fry last year, they were about $1 each, 8 in a bag.

seems like you california guy have everything :) I'm in upstate NY now so I have to travel to find anything and have to pay a good price for it to.
 
If all goes well, and the fry last, and grow out, I'll send you some in a few months.
Of course at this early egg stage, that might be a bit premature.

Fry are now about 2 weeks since hatch. I had to remove the parents because they appeared to start cleaning a new spawning site, and didn't want to risk the parents thinking the older fry were a threat..
