H.O.T Magnum on 5 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Try a coldwater stream setup. White Clouds, Hillstream Loaches, maybe some true planorbis ramshorn snails.

whats this petco tank? was this just a location only special or something?
Thinking about checking my local petco if not.
Thanks

There's a lot of $1 a gallon sales at petco and petsmart. Call around the stores in your area. They were selling 55 gallons for $55, etc.

yeah I picked up 3 ghost shrimp to stick in my 46gal and see how they do while im cycling the 5gal and getting to flow under control. Was thinking a school of 5 or so neon tetras and some shrimp, probably ghost since thats what the stores around here have or maybe ill order some cherry shrimp.

I have a 1.5" return for my 33 gallon (20gallons of water for turtle) with a 800gph pool pump. It blows the sand out of 1 corner, but other than that the rest of the tank is calm. Id go bigger pipe with bigger holes. Perhaps 1" Pvc with 1/4" holes. The more holes the better.

Congrats on the new tank :)

Did you add a sponge filter over the intake like knifegill suggested? That will help in so many ways. One of which is slightly reduce intake. Reduced intake = reduced out flow. Plus of course the extra filtration you'll benefit from.

You'll have to post a photo once you get this monster finished up :)

not yet...still trying to find a sponge thick enough...the intake has a pretty large diameter so the little ones I found in the store won't work...and looked at fabric stores but all of the foam they had was real tight and would slow the flow too much.
