I don't know the seller, but for what it's worth I would ask to see a photo of both fish. The fish in the photo appears to be a female. An "unproven pair" could mean that they haven't bred...or that he has two females. It does look like the real deal. One of the tell tale physical features of this fish is that the head is longer than the body is high. The Panuco basin is a real hot bed of evolution for many fish, and in particular the Hericthys complex. I came back with one Steindachneri/Labridens hybrid. We only ever saw ONE Steindachneri at Tamasopo falls. Apparently the locals find them very tasty. They are being "eaten" out of existence. I know of one other pair in the U.S. Also hasn't bred.
