Hi all! Im about to purchase a tatuia thats about 7-8" this week. Ive tried searching some info on RTPs but im a little lost on whats the max size in captivity? Ive read here that 12" is the max size and ive also read about 18" being the max size. I recently sold my 14" armatus bc of it being so ill tempered so i was thinking that maybe a tat might be a better choice. Pls give me some info on your experience with keeping tats.

My question is:

What is its max size?
Growth rate? Inch per month?
Temparament? Ive read that theyre not as bad as armatus

Thanks!!

Slow growing. Max size in captivity? Can't say anyone has kept one long enough and reported it. 18" would be wild max size. You can get one to that in captivity just would take many many years. Temperament isn't like armatus. They usually only fight amongst each other.

How slow growing? Are they on par with atfs when it comes to growth? Cause im planning on keeping one with ah vatf and hopefully someday it would catch up with my 12" gatf

I'd say atf may grow faster being that they grow larger... others may know better.

Which means they wont fight with other fish? They wont attack first right?

No way to guarantee such a thing, personality varies from fish to fish. Certain things may bother one more than another. Some may not like silver fish while others can careless.

Indeed but i think they ll fight for sure to gain the territory or accept that they are not the alpha in the tank
