Had eggs but they ate them :(

thanks...

well 80 percent of the eggs are white as of today... but she is still trying to fan them... i duno maybe my male is retarded

if the mother is a loser lol and not taking care of them right like some females do. Than you might want to consider more drastic measures. Try setting up a separate tank with the same water, use a flower pot base for the spawning ground, and remove the eggs still covered in water once they are fertilized to the new tank. Set up a filter right in front of the eggs so the water drop from the filter will push a constant flow over the eggs. This will simulate the mother's fanning action, and I will tell you from personal experience this method works very well when done correctly. Good luck hope it works out for you!

thanks i will try that next time... im still hoping to pull at least a few from this spawn... is it normal for them to spawn in 2 weeks intervals? Whats the males regenerating sperm time like lol?

Not the male u have to worry about. Its the female. He will want to breed again. She wont be ready for awhile. So keep a close eye on her. He might get extra rough. It is usually every 4 to 5 weeks give or take.

if she did eat them, keep a watchful eye on the pair the male may be more aggressive towards her to breed and stress her out

waiting for another spawn.. in the meantime....

if the male does not cover the eggs then it is not the female but the male that needs time to get it right... its his job to have some accuracy...or all white fungus eggs will appear....

great looking paire you got there. hopefully they are successful with their spawning.

be careful with the hoplo catfish in with them. i had a 7" hoplo in my community tank which had a dovii in it and it got nailed by it. also with them havin eggs in the tank may appear as a food source to the hoplo.

just my 2c though. just keep an eye on them :)
