Hagen T5 Glo lighting Discontinued?

Hi all. All the LFS's in my area have the hagen T-5 high output lighting on for cheap right now. you can get them half price at the moment.

I asked why and was told they are being discontinued.

anyone else heard anything about this?

Possibly! They are not selling well enough and Hagen is having a hard time getting them made. There are VERY few fluorescent tube manufacturers anymore that are willing to make tubes for a 3rd party.

For some reason at my work the Hagan lights aren't a very big seller, even though they're not that much more expensive than the regular strip lights. They're brighter, look much better...........but for some reason no one buys them.

part of the problem might be that they do not have an on/off switch.

to turn it on/off you need to unplug it unless you use a timer.

this MIGHT be why people are turned off by them.

Yeah I agree.I perfer to have the switch to turn them on/off.Thats one reason I sold mine.

Are they getting rid of just the t5 light strips or are they going to stop making the bulbs too like the T5 HO power glo.

see, from what I understand their bulbs are not compatible on other T-5 systems because of their odd length.

eg. their 48" fixture takes a 46 or 47" bulb instead of a 48" bulb like everyone else - they made them that way so you could only use THEIR bulbs in the strip...

Ahh interesting. I am not looking at there strips...I might use there power glo bulb one day but it would be in a retro fit type setup so I could use there bulbs I am guessing...since it would use end caps not a strip.
