I saw a show on Animal Planet, where they put 3 in a huge bucket and they slimed it up so bad, the water was pretty much a gel, it was so thick that it was hard for them to dump it out of the bucket
Kind of a old thread but I know some things about them. They will probably survive if you can get the water to about 55 -60 degrees (obviously colder the better). They will slime when something warm or a different temperature touches them. If you want to handle them / do tank cleaning stick your hand in the tank and allow it to cool down to water temp, they most likely will not slime. They also have a nasty bite and are much more capable of escaping an aquarium than they look. They will not eat each other, but I wouldn't trust them with any other living thing. Anyway I hope you go for it, I've been considering trying to keep them my self.
