yea corporate can be very stupid, like they told us which fish should we not sell, i said pacu, clown knife, needlefish, Dragon Goby, and basically most brackish water because people dont understand brackish water tanks anyway. they told me that those fish accounted for alot of sales and that they would stop carrying alot of african cichlids and that i just need to sell fish not tell people how to keep fish. Also they have now said that if a customer makes a big deal about a dead fish they are returning, like no receipt or receipt but no fish, we have to give them the fish anyway, even if it isnt the same fish they bought, they are getting alot of complaints about the fish departments in a bunch of stores pissing people off about not giving refunds for " a $1.79 fish" This is bull**** that is why people dont need to keep fish because they get an attitude when you ask about testing there water, they just say "oh that fish look sick when they gave it to me" IDIOTS MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND!!!

I see dumb people, they are everywhere. They walk around just like everybody else. They don't even know they are dumb.
Ewurm, I highly doubt that they had black tip reef sharks you idiot! Do you even know what that is? They do have silver tip sharks (a type of catfish and not a shark) that is a fw-bw-sw fish.

I cant say for other petsmarts b/c I have never been to any except the one I work at. Well my store has some very knowledable people. We are told to refuse to sell fish if the home they are going into is not appropriate. For example, if some one is buying an Oscar we always ask what size tank and if they are like 10 or 20 we straight up refuse the sale. We (me and my co-workers) laugh at the goofy things our labels say all the time, oh well what can we do other then inform customers of the labels that may not be correct. Funny you guys mentioned figure 8s because i was watching my pet care manager (she is smoking hot) with a customer who said she had bought some from another place and said that it killed all of her fish blah blah. Well my manager who actually has some in her marine tank explained everything to her. We dont sell figure 8s, but we do sell dragon gobies and silver tip sharks and we always tell the customer that these need to be in a brakish water tank. The lead specialtist (fish manager) has been breeding cichlids for 25 years so our cichlid section is top notch!
Oh well I guess it is easy to rant about them because we know how big of "experts" you all are but think about it. In your area how many people do you know are advanced aquarists that know their stuff? Now out of them how many of them are willing to work part time for $8 an hour? Probably very few or none. Now saying that it is logistically impossible to train and teach all new hires enough information to answer every question asked....**** it I am tired and you all are getting my point I hope, I have to ****.

I agree that it takes time and money to train people and some stores are better than others , but I also witnessed first hand a petsmart employee selling several Oscars to two girls that were buying a 5 gallon tank for them, and doing it all on the same day. He was going to give them the smaller ones telling the girls that they would be just fine, and then he gave me a horrible go to hell look when I informed the girls that the Oscars would grow to the same size as the larger ones and then some. And that they really would need a larger tank if they enjoyed their fish alive. Im happy to hear that your store is doing its job, but it would be nice if there was a way for you guys to help police the other stores.
How can you even think about employing people to work in the fish section when they couldnt tell the difference between a betta and a goat?! All Corporate fish shops suck and so do the staff!
