Actually we dont require a water sample, hint why I said no questions asked. But dont think I am trying to praise petsmart and all but at least in my area LFS have NO garuntee, high prices, sick fish, and a selection that really is not better! Maybe that is why I buy most of my fish online or from private sellers! lol
The big problem i see is thaif you try to correct them when they say something stupid, thats the end of the help, they walk away from you or treat you like your a big fish nerd. So best is to avoid those places unles you have to go there for emergency or there is a must have fish that they dont realize what it is.
My LFS had Fahaka puffers in their brackish tank. I told one of the workers that Fahakas are freshwater, not brackish, and they should probably be moved. He replied, "Well, our supplier has them under brackish and until that changes, then OUR Fahakas are brackish."
Now whenever I go in the store all the workers run off into a back room. When I bought my peppermint shrimp for my reef a girl handed me the bag and net and said, "Here, you're the (insert snotty voice here)"expert", net it yourself."
I like to snoop around in crappy fish stores. Ya never know when they might have some straggler fish in the mix that they don't know about (but you do).
The petsmart here is great. Only complaint I have is them selling true red terrors and horrible angelfish. I had talked to the manager about the imported angels, and they said it's the corporate management's decision. I say we find a way to talk to the corporate managers, and try to change their minds. If not, we go violent.

You should have had some fun with it then. I sure would have. "Crap, i missed and hit the side of the tank and bent the bejeesus out the net" "Oh No! the net is caught on a rock, oops, I tore the net"
Or just get the shrimp, but make a mess doing it. Spill lots of water and stuff.
The Petsmart near me isn't too bad. Their Marine section is deplorable though. Apparently, Snowflake Eels don't need places to hide.
I only ever buy supplies there, even then, only when it's a bit of an emergency. As my favorite LFS is considerably further away.
dont make fun of the store it could just be one corrupt person spreading the greed
and besides if anyone was smart they would RESEARCH the fish before they buy i saw someone at meijers once going to buy an oscar because it looked bigger and they were saying how short their guppys lived a total of 3 weeks wow crappy water conditions and they want to put an oscar in a 5 gall tank? they do know those fish are babies at the store sometimes people are so naive they'll just but and think that anything will survive in a fishbowl then they decide to blame the store and demand refunds but i love the small fish stores near us even if they dont know alot about their fish theyre selling

My point is that it's 4 years old, is that confusing somehow? He bumped a really old thread, I was just pointing out that it was really old and that there was really no reason to bump it.
