HAHAHA Your killin me petsmart

Im just gonna throw this out there. My local Petsmart is awesome I hate to hear yalls bad experiences, but not all corporate fish stores suck.

My petsmart is REQUIRED to keep the corporate labels on their tanks, but they also are allowed to use glass markers. They have a warning on their tanks for oscars, all of their brackish fish and aggressive fish. Not to mention at least one of the employees is experienced and they do refuse a sale if the tank isnt cycled or if the tank isnt sufficient.

The sad part is you can get around it by saying you are just growing the fish out in the smaller tank, which I have done, granted I really did buy a larger tank.

I am actually hoping to go there on payday and buy 3 needle fish.

Damn, this is like the 87239483274987th thread about how people hate petsmart so much...

My Petsmart Rocks, sucks to be our guys. I have never seen ick at my petsmart, the only place I've actually ever seen ick is a small LFS, all the tanks shared a big filter system, it was gross. I've never had ick or any other disease/parasite in my tank, and all my fish have come from petsmart. Its true most of the employees are not highly educated in fish and there labels are wrong, but since I know about fish already it doesnt effect me. And mine doesnt label a Pacu at 12" its listed at 24" inches, still incorrect but its better than 12".

people complain when you repost a topic that already has a thread
people complain when you post in a thread that is 'old'

when you join a forum and go through it thoughally and read up on history
it is appropraite to revive a discussion that has long since stalled IMO

better than taking the easy road and
posting your well discussed question in a new thread

*sighs* you have a point my friend. it depends on the topic for me. petsmart policies 4 years ago? one would think they may have changed.. no major corporation stays idle year to year

I'd think it would be appropriate to resurrect a thread dealing with Ich, or DIY Overflows, or something else that can be expanded on or clarified. A thread like this that's pretty much just general discussion banter would be better left buried IMO. Dunno, kindof a grey area.

I sometimes wonder how people even find these threads. Type "Petsmart" in the search and find a funny one on page 13 from 4 years ago that the searcher just has to respond to? Gets really funny when the searcher quotes and responds to someone that has been MIA for a year or more. :screwy:

Labels on their fish are still just as bad as they were 4 years ago. ;) Least the ones in my town. But of the 3 chain stores represented in my area, they are the best. None of the ones near me carry puffers anymore though. :grinno:
