Hair Algae, Does Anybody Like it?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I personally like it as long as it doesn't take over my tank. I have a bit on the rocks and decor in my tank and some on the waterfall part of my ac 70's but thats it. I think it looks much more realistic. Does algae absorb nitrates like other plants? Btw I love the picture of the clown loaches, I like the one to the left of the spotted one with his mouth open haha

the hair algae isint that bad... i almost sorta like it... this black beard algea stuff however... i friggin hate it... however its in my gfs tank so its her problem :)

Not crazy about having it meshing into my other plants. Other than that it's cool looking stuff if your willing to manage it.

i like hair algae i think i gives a more natural look in my tanks i actually have moved rocks to different tanks in hopes it would pick up in another

As long as the hair algae is controllable I will allow it to grow in my tanks. Usually i let algae of all types accumulate on the back wall of my aquarium, the fish seem to enjoy eating it and it lessens the obnoxiousness of many aquarium backgrounds. Every once in a while I do massive cleaning to keep my "natural backgrounds" from taking over the rest of the tank.
