Hair Algae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
go on vacation.. lol i went on vaca for about a week and the person watching the tank never turned the lights on.. came home and the tak was SPOTLESS!

although i dont honestly suggest this..

nipping it at the source is the best way to do it.. keeep nitrates and phosphates down.. something like a sea hare or lettuce nutibranch shouldn't be eaten by the snowflke, nor should a pinchusion urchin.. either of which i'd recomend

A sea hare would be pretty cool. I've already got a pencil urchin in there, but it doesn't really seem to do anything. If I switched to RO water, and the algae eventually goes away, what would the sea hare and pin-cushion urchin eat?

you can substitute feed with algae sheets. You should be able to get them at any pet store. A veggie clip will hold it under water. Lettuce is also sometimes used, same with spinach. You can also buy some live algae for feeding purposes. There is a lot of algae that fish and what not will not touch, but do your research and you should be able to find an algae they will eat.
