Hello, over the past two weeks I have had hair algae really rapidly grow. The tank is 200 gallons and contains a male and female Festae I feed them twice a day (in the morning live blackworms and at night with new life spectrum thera a)
As for lights I have a 6ft led that runs for 5 hours a day. The tank also has a pondone 36 watt uv steraliser on it.
My water levels are good my nitrate is around 0 due to daily to ever second day water changes of around 30 gallons or 15%.
The algae strangely enough only really grows on the ends of the tank (none really grows directly in the center)
I’m not sure what is fueling the algae growth and would appreciate help

Must be some issue with your lighting. Do you keep them on continuously?
No I just have them on timers for 5 hours a day. I have a pair of 2 freshwater radions arriving at the beginning of next week so if it is an issue with lighting hopefully that will solve it

Hmmm have you tried switching up the timer since the algae problem started? Is the tank exposed to ambient sunlight? If it is and you have the lights on when it gets dark(evening), you may be generating the photoperiod that specific algae requires to reproduce quickly.

You may try tweaking your water temperature as well. You keep yours a little high id wager?

The tank does get a little bit of ambient light during the day and the led lights do come on when it gets darker. The water temperature is around 26.5 degrees Celsius
