I'm trying to plant Hair grass seeds but my tank is already established, so today I put some seeds in a paper towel and buried the paper towel under the gravel. Has anyone tried this before, what are the chances of it working? If it doesn't work I'll plant it in a different tank and transplant it later

Could you start it almost like a classroom project in a wet paper towel in a sandwich bag then transplant it from there.

I've also got a cup in a windowsill with some seeds.

Just tape it against the window and make sure the paper towel is kept moist.

You should start them off in a clear Rubbermaid container near a window with substrate and super high humidity. Once you have viable plants, then you plant them. The seeds won’t grow in your aquarium.

That's not true, I've grown them in aquariums before and they've done just fine, they just take a little longer to really take off. I just don't know if they'll grow through the paper towel because I don't wanna take my fish out

That's a good point, I use eco friendly paper towels but that doesn't necessarily mean no chemicals though. I'll find another way to sink the seeds
