had my fahaka puffer for 3 years now and just today i noticed what look like little hairs growing on her back, hairs not hydra, very small and only seem to be on the top of her, any idea what this is??? some type of fungus perhaps??? or just sediment that got stuck to her sime coat???

I have seen it on my Fahaka before, but was more like substrate and such in her slime coat. Rub the fish with your hands and see if it comes free.

was thinking of doing that but diddnt want to mess with her slimecoat if it indeed was some type of parasite or fungus, but i guess only one way to find out lol

I pet my Fahaka all the time, it;s not a big deal..just make sure your hands are clean

hope i can do that to mine one day, because i hand feed her shes used to snatching things at the surface with a quickness, my fingers might look like a treat to her lol

^ Yeah, definitely don't want no fahaka chomping on fingers thats for sure...

yes sir, ive seen what she can do to some of the thickest clams i could find, my fleshy finger wouldnt stand a chance, probably could bite through my bone if she could open her mouth wide enough and take off the whole thing instead of just a chunk

I guess im kinda lucky... My girl is quite gentile, although i try to only feed her using tongs so she doesnt assosiate my fingers with food...

maybe i should try that, because shes pretty attracted to my hand, with or without food, then again after three years it maybe too late

Might still be worth a try... They are pretty clever... My girl kniws when its feeding time when she sees me carrying her cup and tongs then she starts getting frisky and wants to eat...
