hairy puffer teeth maintenance?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dont be afraid to try pellet foods on him. Mine wont touch them but gut loaded into a shrimp body he does not notice. I keep Hikari sinking carnivore on hand for my bichir and this is what I stuff into the shrimp. I have a friend who has a Dragon puffer and it eats pellets outright. Never know unless you try.

I really want to get some crayfish to feed to mine but my state has strict laws on transport of live because of invasive crays becoming so prevalent. So still working on a solution for that.

Thanks mate, tried everything and no joy... he ate a lone tiger barb that was the last fish in there unfortunately but kind of expected. Previous owner was feeding trumpet snails and shelled prawn. Ive had no luck with mussel, peeled prawn, silver sides, or pellets... have aome white fillet to try later...

When I was first getting my Congo to eat Silversides, I loosely tied a thread to the tail and jerked it around in front of him. He started taking them, and I ended up being able to hand feed him the Silversides.

Cheers bottles, sounds kinda fun too... I guess he just needs to settle a bit too, only been a week so no panic, plus the barb to digest eek.

They like a tank with lots of decor to cruise around and hide. This will help him feel more at ease. So you might consider a few large rock, caves or driftwood.

Mine responds to food movement. If it sees the food fall it goes after it. But I do keep a pair of large feeding tongs on hand for when he does not see it, I can pick it up and feed it to him again.

Ok, thanks for the help dude, his cover is fairly minimul atm so I will sort that too...

This is a piece of driftwood my puffer will occasionally 'hide' on.
