Lol, same thing I was thinking but he's in a tank alone and seems to be rubbing on the rock, I was worried he was a female and about to lay eggs, but looks nothing like a females tube. Thank you. And no prolapse.
To me just first impression is it could be a female, because many times with only one in a tank, a female haitiensus will take on dominant characteristics. It has the dark coloring that is a female trait, and the slope of the profile also could suggest female.
If you are in Michigan, you should try and contact Peter Durkin, either thru th Michigan Cichlid Assn or see his adds in the classifieds of gcca.net
Here are some pics of a pair I had.
Normal female colors
now colors when a male is not in the tank.
Now the male to compare, note the difference in profile, and dark male facial coloring, whereas the females is actually lighter in the head region
together
Here again, note the males, dark facial coloration
Another reason I believe yours to be a female is the dark color in the pelvic fins.
Females are generally dark, males almost white.

I'm thinking male because of the trailers too, also he looks like he is just wanting to spawn and that is why he organ is extended. Because if it were a female and was acting like that, then I think you would see the big female tube and most likely, eggs.
