Haitiensis cichlid.

I would listen to Duanes. He's givin plenty of info and I'm with him on this being a female.. Trailers have been proven in plenty of species to not be an indicator for determining sex

Why after all this time of owning him, I've never had him/her lay eggs? And that doesn't look like a tube that a female fish would have. I've had a few lay eggs, the tube is thick and round, not pointed like this right? I hope he's not female.

If it's solid white when not under stress, then it is probably a male.
But in all the photos you posted, it was dark like a female, which is very misleading.

What about the tube Duanes? Looks like you've bred enough to know what the males and females parts look like. Thanks again for your time and input.

I went back thru my photos to see if I had some with the tubes dropped, and could only find one, which is not obvious.
Below is the one with the males tube down.

But I checked some of the other cichlid breeding shots (not that every other species isn't slightly different, or even individual to individual within a species).
Here is a female Chuco intermedia

Ptychochromis sp tarantsy (female?)

That kind of confirms to me that he's male. His is not round, it's very pointy at the tip like your male. And not like any of the female pics. Thanks again for your time. I appreciate it.

Lol......?

I'm going female if duanes is, his posts point out some very female traites...
